Some people can troubleshoot and fix their Macs without any help from an authorized repair center. People who aren't as tech savvy will have to contact Apple to have a computer fixed. One of the ways to start the service process is to request a Mac repair online.
Instructions
Request a Mac Repair Online
Find the serial number for your Mac computer. The location varies by computer, but it is under the keyboard or battery on some laptops and on the bottom of some desktops. Check your computer documentation to see whether the serial number is listed there, perhaps on the original purchase receipt.
See whether you can request a Mac repair online for your computer by checking the list at the Apple Service Depot (see Resources below). Only certain types of work and defective part exchanges can be requested online.
Click the appropriate section for your Mac at the Service Depot. You'll need to enter your computer's serial number, your country location and choose a language preference before proceeding to the Terms and Conditions page. Read and agree to the repair conditions in order to continue.
Sign in to the Service Depot. You can use your .Mac account or your Apple Store ID to log in. Next, you need to verify the computer's serial number and date of purchase.
Fill out the problem you're having with your Mac computer. There may be a few common symptoms listed, but try to be as specific as possible. Next, you'll need to confirm your delivery and pickup addresses to ship your computer for repair.
Enter your billing information and address.
Submit the repair request and wait for it to be processed by an Apple representative. You may be given the option to mail in your computer, drop it off at an Apple store or have a replacement part mailed to you. Be sure to check the email address that is linked to your Apple ID or .Mac account.
